OnePlus launched their “Oneplus Nord” smartphone in July of 2020 as the cheapest Oneplus handset ever. However, It was released when people were spending way too much on smartphones and it was one of the cheapest 5G smartphones. Fast forward to today, Oneplus has launched their new Oneplus Nord CE which, by the way, is cheaper than the Oneplus Nord. Oneplus tells that it is built on the “core aspects” of the Oneplus Nord, from where the word CE is derived from. Launched on June 10, the Oneplus Nord CE is the latest and cheapest smartphone from the Oneplus fleet, offering a Snapdragon 750G, 4500 mAh battery, 6.43-inch fluid AMOLED Display, 7.9 mm thick and weighing 170 gms, it is a solid phone and comfortable to hold in the hands.

Processor

Oneplus Nord CE is being powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 750G (which had been witnessed in the Samsung Galaxy M42 5G and Mi 10i 5G). The OxygenOS 11 (based on Android 11) is a very intuitive Operating System. The chipset runs with the base configuration of two ARM Cortex-A77 cores, cooked at 2.2 GHz. The Adreno 619 GPU provides smooth performance. Speaking of smooth performance, there is a 12 GB top variant aside from the 8 GB RAM and 6 GB RAM, and with 128 GB, 256 GB of storage. The phone bundles with a guaranteed 2 years of software updates and 3 years’ worth of security updates. Switching between apps is smoothly done and there is no lag while playing games. The phone was quite warm but overall the design does help in the airflow.

Battery

The Oneplus Nord CE has a battery life of 4500 mAh and comes with a 30W Warp Charge 30T Plus and charges from 0% to 70% in 30 minutes and 0% to 100% in one hour. The battery lasts for about 20 hours with a 90Hz refresh rate and if you cloak it to 60Hz, it will last a bit more longer. So, the battery life, not the greatest in the price range, but still, a good one.

Display

Oneplus Nord CE has a 6.3-inch Fluid AMOLED display and is capable of running at a 90 Hz refresh rate. TThe AMOLED Display is capable of running at a maximum resolution of 2400×1800 pixels. It also offers a high pixel density of 401ppi. This screen is also capable of running at a fast refresh rate of 90Hz. However, unlike the Nord, this has a glass called Asahi Dragontail, which is a damage-resistant glass (Similar to Corning Gorilla Glass) and it is actually pretty solid. It also has an In-Display Fingerprint Scanner, which does its job very well.

Camera

The Oneplus Nord CE comes with a triple camera setup. The 64MP (f/1.79) Primary Camera, 8MP (f/2.25) Ultra-Wide Camera, and a 2MP Mono Camera. Unfortunately, Unlike Nord, this does not have a Macro Camera. So if you are into photography, it might be a problem for you. The 16 MP Selfie Camera performs decently. The camera provides good daylight pictures and average low-light pictures.
